At Kearsley Academy our number one aim is to enable all our students, irrespective of age, ability or background, to achieve their full potential academically and socially.
All staff and students are 'Team Kearsley' and the one academy rule is clear regarding expectations.
Raising attainment is our highest priority because this is the key to improving the life chances of our young people and giving them choices in the future. These chances must be for all students and not just a few. The vision for the Academy is for an inclusive education system with barriers removed to enable every learner to achieve their full potential.
A focus on developing strong motivation and engagement is a key feature of the Academy to promote high aspiration and achievement for all students. We are well aware of the need for concerted and direct action immediately in the key areas of raising attainment and literacy levels. We would like to build on recent initiatives and improvements.
Our chief aspiration is to ensure positive attitudes to learning from all students - we want students to enjoy their learning and their Academy experience. Exemplary behaviour will be expected as the norm from all students. Exclusions should be low (below local and national averages) and always be a last resort. Attendance and punctuality should be high (above local and national averages).
We encourage an environment of co-operation and team work, with students demonstrating strong initiative, interest and pride in their work. We would like to see high levels of involvement in extracurricular and other enrichment activities, including vulnerable and hard to reach groups. We have the opportunity to use the University of Bolton and its students as role models and mentors for students, especially in the specialist areas of Leadership, Maths and Computing.
