a_16435111.jpg Here at Kearsley Academy we have had the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people from both the local and wider community. We have worked with people in a variety of ways: Thank you to the visitors for enhancing 'Academy Life' and contributing to the learning experiences of our students. As part of our leadership specialism we are constantly working with leaders in various areas of expertise to share their knowledge with Kearsley Academy students.

Recent visitors have included:

  • Jack Zhang and Yan Zhou Primary School pupils from China.
  • Family of Schools Conference 2012.
  • Joe Gilligan from X-Factor series and The Voice for vocal workshops with BTEC Music students and as a judge for 'Hit the Stage 2'.
  • The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton for our 'Ground Breaking' event to celebrate the start of our New Build.
  • Kearsley Community Choir, Training Band and Brass Band for the Kearsley Music Festival.
  • Steve Tonge, Pastor Mark Curtis and the local community for taking part in our community week.
  • Natasha Jonas, British Olympic Athlete 2012 (as part of the Sky Sport Mentoring Programme)*pictured.
  • Frantic Assembly to work with BTEC Acting students.
  • Twist and Pulse dance duo from Britain's Got Talent.
  • Art Fantastic, working with our Student Council.
  • Curtis Jobling, the author and illustrator based in the UK. Working in publishing and animation he is possibly most famously known as the designer of the BAFTA winning BBC show Bob the Builder.
  • The Happy Puzzle Company - working with the Maths Department.

MP Yasmin Qureshi Visit Feature

Yasmin Qureshi MP gives a 'cheer' for Kearsley Academy on Friday 20th May 2011. "Keep up the good work" was the message from the Bolton South East MP when she visited Kearsley Academy. There was an impressive display by the award winning cheerleading team helping to showcase the Academy's determination to continue to improve since it opened last September. Yasmin also met members of the Student Council for a question and answer session where issues were raised.

"It's an exciting time for Kearsley Academy with work on their new building due to start soon and with their Sixth Form opening. They've had success recently in improving their exam results and I'm convinced that the hard work of the students, staff and management team will pay off with even better results this year. I'm looking forward to celebrating their success in the future".

She even found time to tweet about her visit: 'Spent morning @ Kearsley Academy in Bolton. Thanks to award-winning cheerleaders for display & Student Council for excellent Q&A session!'

Yasmin Qureshi also kindly donated raffle items in support of 'Circus Kaos', Kearsley Academy's charity fundraiser, which raised over £1500 for Cancer Research in July 2011.
